Session Summary

This round-table guided discussion will look at SAR strategy, budgeting, training and mission planning, at both a national and international level, as well as the technologies and methods that can be applied to improve these areas.

Led by an experienced SAR professional, with extensive experience across national and international missions, this workshop represents a valuable opportunity to gain new expertise, and exchange solutions and insight with SAR operators and industry leaders who you may not normally have the opportunity to engage with.

About the Workshop Leader

Mr. Adam Erland, Regional Supervisor Maritime Search and Rescue Halifax, Canadian Coast Guard

Adam Erland has 33 years with the Canadian Coast Guard, having worked in many elements of marine operations; search and rescue, navigational waterway design, vessel traffic regulation, coast radio communication and adult training in emergency response. Adam has experience as a first responder to search and rescue incidents and has trained marine personnel and enforcement agencies in Fast Rescue Craft operation and on scene resource management. Presently, he works at the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre Halifax as the Regional Supervisor Maritime Search and Rescue.’
